Located 30 miles east of Sacramento, Auburn is a small town that calls itself "The Endurance Capital of the World." The nickname comes from the 100-mile races between Auburn and Lake Tahoe — one for horses and riders and the other for runners. The Bear River and American River offer water activities almost year-round.
